O Sacred head surrounded,
By crown of piercing thorn,
O bleeding head so wounded
Reviled and put to scorn.
Our sins have marred the beauty
Of thy most Holy face;
Yet angel host adore thee
And tremble as they gaze.

1 79. REMEMBER MAN (Ash Wednesday)
Refrain:
Remember man that you are dust,
And into dust you will return.
Let us change our garments for ashes and sackcloth.
Let us fast and weep before the Lord for gracious
And merciful is our God to forgive our sins.
2. Between the porch and the alter, let the priests
The ministers of the Lord lament and say:
“Spare, O Lord, spare your sons, spare your sons.
And close not the mouths of your faithful who sing to you.”
3. Let us change for better from our sins of ignorance,
Lest we die in sins, in our sins, a sudden death.
4. Hear us Lord, have mercy, have mercy,
For we have sinned against you, against you.
5. Help us God our Saviour, help us Lord, help us Lord,
For the glory of your name O Lord, help us Lord.
6. Glory be to the Father and to the Son,
To the Holy Spirit Holy Ghost, hear us Lord.
